My Best Day

International Feature Film Competition

This indie lesbian comedy introduces the red-head dispatcher Karen, who tries to meet her long lost father in the sleepy Pennsylvanian countryside, with help from the butch dyke-on-bike best friend Maegan - who makes a living as fixer of refrigerators – neurotic gambler step-sister, Daddy’s slacker “lodger” and the antisocial newly discovered baby brother Ray. While the small town’s Fourth of July celebrations commence, the protagonists find themselves in the fireworks of absurd situations and unexpected clashes: Maegan realizes that her long-term relationship could also use some fixing, more urgently than any fridge in town; bullied boy Ray invents new and gradually more dangerous ways to woo the local co-op owner’s daughter; and Karen learns that her family’s dynamic is really very far from ideal… Erin Greenwell’s film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and won the Audience Award at the NewFest, New York’s LGBT festival.
