Paths / Ein Weg

International Feature Film Competition

A kiss by the sea is a promise of eternal love. But who would think of coming to the Baltic shore in the autumn? Nobody except Martin and Andreas, the film's main protagonists, who consider this place an important monument to their relationship. After many years together, numerous life triumphs as well as fatal mistakes, they come here every year to find each other again. While most relationship films end when the main characters fall in love and form a couple, debuting director Chris Miera examines the protagonists’ long-term relationship from the moment their son leaves home for university. Retrospectively, we can observe the milestones in the relationship's fifteen years. What is left of the love between two people after such a long time? And how long is eternity in a relationship? This authentic study of one relationship with a unique melancholic autumn atmosphere and the Baltic shore was presented at this year's Berlinale.
