Teri and her girlfriend Tiahna live in Skid Row, Los Angeles, a district also dubbed the capital city of the homeless. Their relationship is far from idyllic. Apart from their bad social and economic background, Teri also suffers from mental problems and intense mood swings, and wants to escape this dump as soon as possible. In contrast, Tiahna fits within the local structures well and doesn’t want to leave, although she’s already spent some time behind bars. The story relies on powerful characters who could easily be actresses in a fiction film, and a camera that draws the audience in and mercilessly spits them out into the Skid Row streets, continuing in the tradition of the best observational documentaries. The film reveals the power of the police, the limited options for social help in the USA and the drastically growing numbers of homeless women (not only) in Los Angeles. Yet above all, it focuses on two women’s lives and the love story that continues even despite many obstacles.
