The guests of last year's Mezipatra, actress Saga Becker and scriptwriter Eli Levén, were nominated for the prestigious Swedish film prize, Guldbagge Awards, for Something Must Break (Nånting Måste Gå Sönder). Saga Becker is nominated for the Best Actress for the main role of Sebastian/Ellie. “I'm the first transgender person who's been nominated for this award. It's a great step forward,” commented Becker on a Swedish radio. Eli Levén is nominated together with director Ester Martin Bergsmark for the Best Screenplay. Something Must Break is a modern romance which was the winner of the 15th edition Mezipatra Queer Film Festival, and it also received Tiger Award at International Film Festival in Rotterdam. Guldbagge Awards are a Swedish equivalent of the American Academy Awards. The winners will be disclosed on 26th January at the ceremony in Stockholm.

Yet there are more films from last year's Mezipatra which are being awarded prestigious prizes. Cahiers du Cinéma, a French magazine, published Top Ten films according to the viewers, and the list includes Xavier Dolan's Mommy as well as Love Is Strange by Ira Sachs. Mommy was also Canada's candidate for Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film, together with Brazil's The Way He Looks (Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho) and Swiss The Circle (Der Kreis). All these films were presented at Mezipatra.

Our congratulations to all the winners!
