The Invisibles / Les Invisibles

Documentary

This intimate documentary disputes the stereotype of queer life through stories of older members of the LGBTQ+ community. The shared stories allow a peek into French households at a time when homosexuality wasn’t even talked about, as well as into the current state of love life after fifty. Romantic gestures alternate with arguing and banter. Love goes its way, whether it’s a heterosexual or homosexual couple. However, growing up at a time that was hostile to any other love than between a man and a woman has left marks even later in life, not only in how relationships are perceived, but also one’s own identity. The documentary The Invisible Ones offers a detailed insight into the lives of several protagonists who will guide us through the transformation of queer life from the mid 20th century to today.
