Love Me Tender
International Feature Film CompetitionClémence is living the life she has chosen: she spends her mornings swimming, submits her daily writing with strict discipline, and devotes her evenings to dating. She has abandoned her legal profession and her social status, focusing only on her art and son in shared custody with her ex-husband. But one unfortunate conversation disrupts this harmonious routine and sparks a merciless custody battle. Clémence soon discovers that her sexual orientation and radically minimalist lifestyle have dealt her a rotten hand… How can she defend her motherly love and life choices? This harrowing psychological drama, based on Constance Debré’s autobiographical novel, depicts the blindness of the social system that cannot accept divergence. The film will strike you with the enigmatic performance of Vicky Krieps and the uncompromising narrative form that stays true to the provocative novel. The film was screened at Cannes where it competed for the Queer Palm and Un Certain Regard awards.
