The only queer film distribution in the Czech Republic

Queer Kino is a distribution brand of the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival (Mezipatra z.s.), which focuses on distributing international LGBTQ+ films to Czech cinemas since July 2019.

Why Mezipatra?

Mezipatra will celebrate its 20th edition in November 2019. Since its establishment, the festival has gained a stable position on the Czech cultural scene – around 11,500 viewers visit the event every year and several dozen foreign films and a unique accompanying program are offered to the audience.

Apart from the fall film season, Mezipatra organizes premiere screenings of films within the “Mezipatra Approved” cycle all year round and provides discussion evenings with screenings as the accompanying program of Prague Pride Identity in the City. And now we want to expand our portfolio and offer even more quality qeer cinema.

Queer films to all cinemas!

At the moment, there is no distribution in the Czech Republic offering exclusively queer movies to cinemas across the country. The audience is thus dependent on traditional distribution companies to include such films in their program which usualy offer them to selected cinemas only (alternative films often go solely to Prague cinemas).

Queer Kino wants to change this situation, support viewers in all Czech cities and offer quality queer movies throughout the year. The first such film is the French drama Sauvage by promising director Camille Vidal-Naquet, which was released on July 18, 2019. Since then, Queer Kino has acquired three more films: Matthias & Maxime (Matthias et Maxime), And Then We Danced and Lola (Lola vers la mer). In 2020, we bought the German film Cocoon (Kokon) and recently we acquired the film of 2021 called Bliss (Glück).

Dear audience, we look forward to seeing you at the next screening of queer movies in your cinema!
