This year, Mezipatra Queer Film Festival will be a part of Prague Pride once again: the traditional program of Identity in the City will take place from 8th to 12th August in Containall. Three tastings of the upcoming festival and one classics will be presented in the summer cinema. The screenings start at 21:00 every day and will be complemented by discussions with interesting guests and a queer-themed pub quiz. The accompanying events start always at 19:00. The whole program is free.

Pub quiz

Monday will start with the very first pub quiz produced by Mezipatra and everybody can sign up. Teams of two to five people will answer questions about queer facts, history, pop-culture and film, and they may also look forward to a blind map and music quiz. The winners will be rewarded with passes for Mezipatra in November and other valuable prizes.

Barash

The first evening will belong to Israeli Barash about a high school girl named Naama, whose life turns upside down upon meeting Herhsko, a rebellious beauty. Smitten Naama discovers her sexuality and nightlife with the girl, which is contrasted with family troubles and the sleepy routine she was used to. The film premiered at San Sebastian Film Festival and was included also in this year's program of IFF Karlovy Vary.

Hannibal's gourmet snack

As a part of Tuesday's snack with discussion, film experts will focus on the classical The Silence of the Lambs. At first, the twenty-five-year old film was welcomed with criticism by the LGBT community, but it has gradually become an iconic picture offering multiple interpretations. Viewers can come to talk about the popular film's less known aspects just before the screening.

The Silence of the Lambs

Clarice Starling investigates  a serial murderer case with the help of Hannibal Lecter, a cannibalistic psychiatrist. The Oscar-winning psychological thriller is considered an iconic piece of queer cinema. The legendary film won as many as five Oscars – for the Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writing, and Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role.

I for Intersex

Intersexuals – people born with the characteristics of both sexes – are an integral part of the queer community, but most of the general public knows almost nothing about them. During Wednesday snack, Mezipatra will welcome experts focusing on this topic. The discussion on the lives of intersexuals and problems they must face will be hosted by Damián Machaj, the co-founder of Transparent Prague initiative.

Arianna

Despite her parents' constant assurances that her breasts will grow and hips round, nineteen-year old Arianna suspects that there is something different about her body. Under the pressure of resurfacing memories and confrontation with her schoolmates' experience of adolescence, she discovers the secret of her past. Touching the often neglected issue of intersexuality, the Italian drama won two awards at last year's Venice IFF.

Queer dating yesterday and today

People without a dating profile as if didn't exist nowadays, and it applies to the queer community as well. The most popular dating apps are currently Grindr, Scruff, and Her; and the classical dating websites of iBoys/iGirls still remain popular in the Czech Republic. How gays, lesbians and trans people look for one-night stands as well as lifetime partners and how it used to work before internet will be discussed on Thursday by experts on these issues. The chat will be hosted by blogger Jiří Markvart, the writer of Pražská buzna ("Prague Fag").
