FESTIVAL PROGRAM

INTERNATIONAL FEAUTRE FILM COMPETITION

Ten feature films will compete for the main jury prize. Films like Passages and Bones and Names reveal the cracks in long-term relationships and misguided decisions. The fascinating double life is portrayed in movies Blue Jean and Rule 34. Peafowl tells the story of a transgender dancer returning to her conservative hometown, and the Chinese film A Song Sung Blue offers a tale of unrequited young love.

The festival will open with the film Fireworks, a story based on true events about a forbidden love between two young men in Sicily in the 1980s. On the other hand, Smalltown Boys will showcase the freer life of contemporary gay men in the French countryside. We will also visit the Spanish countryside with 20,000 Species of Bees and eight-year-old Lucia trying to convince her family about her identity.

The gradual loss of hearing and the ability to perceive the world as we're used to will be shown in the Mexican film All the Silence. Miriam, a music lover, theater actress, and sign language teacher, sees her close auditory world gradually turning into an indefinite muted noise, turning her whole life upside down.

Forty short films full of excitement, disgust, love, hatred, obsession, and sex will compete for the favor of the student jury. Try to catch the record-breaking eight thematic blocks!

ICONIC DOCUMENTARIES, FAVORITE RETRO, AND QUEER MIXER

You can also look forward to four documentaries. They will explore topics such as intersexuality in the film Who I Am Not, pregnancy and maternal love in the documentary M is for Mothers, pornofluencerism in Pornomelancolia, and the backstage life of sex workers in Kokomo City.

In the retro section, we will reminisce about older films. From the documentary The Queen of Ireland, which won the Audience Award in 2016, to the winner of the Best Feature Film award in the international competition in 2017, Beach Rats, and the recipient of the Audience Award in 2018, the comedy The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

Last year, we paid special attention to Ukrainian artists who persist in their work. This year, a selection of films from Ukraine is Queer vol. 2 about the current lives of young queer people will continue this trend. This year's Queer Mixer section is packed with ingredients where freedom undoubtedly stands out.
