At thirty, Freddy is ready to start his own family. However, as a trans man, his path to desired parenthood is not easy. Years of discussions and preparations finally result in the decision to bear the baby himself. This purely pragmatic choice is understandable for his unconditionally loving mother, but it's confusing for others. The hostility against transgender people worldwide is growing against the backdrop of Freddy's story, and he is forced to confront his own naivety and illusions with reality. This intimate portrait by British director Jeanie Finlay was made during a period of three years and follows Freddy from the preparations for the pregnancy to the birth of his longed-for child. The filmmaker questions the basic understanding of gender, parenthood and family units through the story of the father-to-be, offering a lyrical and touching film about what makes us who we truly are.
