A Map for a Talk / Mapa para Conversar

International Feature Film Competition

Constanza Fernández’s feature debut - which granted her both Best Director as well as several Audience Awards at festivals in her native country of Chile - is a pleasant and intimate story of three women: Roberta, a daughter and mother; Javiera, her girlfriend; and Ana, Roberta’s mother. Following Roberta’s impulse, the three set sail by the shore of busy Santiago to spend a one-day trip isolated on a yacht, which provides them a space to confront their divergent perspectives and desires: Roberta longs for closer contact with Javiera as well as her mother’s acceptance of her relationship with her beloved woman. Ana wishes and requests a proper family for her daughter. Javiera wants appreciation of her theoretical research in porn. As soon as the first wind of the courageous sail calms down, the girls drop anchor to refresh themselves. The relations start to deepen, allowing the viewer to be enchanted by an unobtrusively humorous psychological drama and its outstanding manners of narration.
