• Mezipatra Queer Film Festival is inviting viewers to the exclusive trailer premiere which will take place in NEONE club on 18th October.
  • The trailer's creator is the director, actress and musician Johana Svarcova.
  • On 19th October, the festival will disclose its program and tickets for individual films will go on sale.

The trailer for this year's 17th edition of Mezipatra will be introduced on Tuesday, 18th October, in NEONE club. The most loyal audiences can look forward to a packed program, starting at 19:30 – the program coordinator Sandra Hezinova will present the highlights of this year's program, the director Johana Svarcova will introduce the trailer, and DJs  UNKNXWN and Kaa Glo will entertain you throughout the evening. Admission fee for the event is optional.

“When Mezipatra asked me for cooperation, I had the idea that the trailer should have a completely different atmosphere than until now,” says Johana Švarcová. The fresh graduate of the Film and TV school of the Academy of Performing Arts, Department of Directing, is known also as an actress (The Greatest Czechs, Nothing Against Nothing, Journey to Rome), the director of short films (Hi, I'm Doing Fine, Cizí příbuzní, Proces), and a member of the Kazety band.

“In my perception, all those 'differences' in sexual preferences or gender identity are something normal. Each of us is different, and I wanted to avoid emphasizing these differences in the trailer, I didn't want to aim at sexuality in any way,” says Svarcova, adding that the topic of this year's edition – Limits of Liberty – permeates the trailer more as a motive than as some specific scene.

Program and ticket sale

The topic of Limits of Liberty pervades the whole program, which will be revealed on Wednesday, 19th October, and the ticket sale will start the same day. Mezipatra's fans can already buy festival passes at the bargain price of five tickets which are valid for any seven screenings. They will be on sale in Prague for 540 CZK until 18th October, and in Brno for 490 CZK until the end of the festival.

The festival's attractions this year are remarkable films of today's European and American cinema. They include this year's winner of the Berliner Teddy Award – the Austrian drama Tomcat (Kater), French Staying Vertical (Rester vertical), which featured at the main competition in Cannes this year, and American Lovesong, which competed at Sundance.

As a part of the accompanying program, audiences may look forward to discussions with experts, stylish parties, and unique performances prepared for Mezipatra by a creative collective from Berlin, CHEAP Kollektiv. A photographic series called Relationship, which was created together with his ex-partner, Zackary Drucker, and selected episodes from the new season of the popular Transparent TV show will be introduced by the show's co-producer, Rhys Ernst.
