Blue is the Warmest Colour / La vie d'Adèle

International Feature Film Competition

Adèle is a young student and preschool teacher. She is ready for the mainstream heterosexual lifepath appropriate for nice girl from conservative families. One day though she meets a girl with blue hair… And blue is the warmest and the most amazing color as Adèle discovers and starts reconsidering her heterosexuality. The girl’s name is Emma. She is an artist and step by step she falls for Adèle with the same intesity as Adèle falls for her. So a fatal romance starts, driven by gripping sexual attraction and interwoven with the stumbling  blocks that any first real relationship encompasses when confronted with family members, the people in their lives, and the girls themselves. The winning film of 2012 Cannes Festival, directed by Abdellatif Kechiche, enthralled critics and audiences alike with its hyper-realistic style and the actresses’s performances, and shocked as well with the open sexual scenes. Thanks to all of this you will not only watch the story of Adèle's and Emma's relationship unfold on the big screen – but you will also be breathlessly living Adèle's life along with her during the five years of her fatal love affair.
