This unique montage of programmes by lesbians for lesbians offers a unique insight into art, politics, sport, films, and sex. Mezipatra's biggest party is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the festival's 20th birthday. Once again, the party takes place in the Mecca of Prague nightlife, Ankali club in Vršovice, and only the best DJs will perform there. You can look forward to Still Sparkling, Ncol, and Motch. The headliner will be a co-founder of the Lecken queer collective, DJ Killa, who performs at such renowned Berlin clubs as Tresor and Griessmühle.

To get the funding for making a short film means not only filling in a lot of paperwork and defending the script, but also, for example, arranging enough dyed feathers to fulfill your artistic vision. But getting your financing approved is far from the end of your worries. This panel of international disability theoreticians (Kateřina Kolářová, Robert McRuer, David Mitchell, and Sharon Snyder) will discuss the many ways in which images of queerness and disability have converged in film and brought together non-normative bodies and desires. The evening program by New Aliens and ALVO producstion consists of the screening of the first part of the short film Lights on Me, release of books from two models of New Aliens Agency, set by DJ Mor Wen, exhibition of movie's BTS and editorial of Barbara Gorbunová. Lights on Me is a student experimental documentary film that aims to present stories of people who are different from normality given by society. They do not meet the common standard of beauty, don't go with established social system, or just have not been so fortunate in their lives. These are models from the New Aliens Agency. What is the life story of one of them? His feelings, experiences, thoughts? All this is portrayed through a sincere testimony supported by original visual style.

Can porn serve as a means to fight heteronormativity? According to the lectors of the educational platform Sex School Hub, the answer is definitely yes! At the workshop, you‘ll also learn how to shoot your own porn as a medium of protest, and we’ll discuss porn in the context of sex education. The event will be hosted by queer sex-education lecturers from Berlin, Lina Bembe and Almond Lindebach. The event is English-friendly.

Mezipatra is celebrating twenty years, and the Brno portion will open at the Scala cinema, as tradition dictates. We will keep the names of the hosts and the form of the opening ceremony secret for now. Follow our social media and you'll learn more soon enough. The festival will start with the screening of the latest film by audience favourite Xavier Dolan, Matthias & Maxime. After the final credits, you can enjoy the endless Friday party directly in the cinema.

TYJSITY animate music and make videos sing. This year, they're playing at a wedding. The ambivalent DJ/VJ duo of Martin Hrdina and Michal Pavlík will open Mezipatra in Brno for the fourth time. Who is who? Are we looking at brothers, husbands or complete strangers? Put masks on them and they'll show you their true faces. This time, it's related to the It's Only Fair campaign. So, dear wedding guests, get ready to dance at the most decadent wedding party of the year. And take your veil and tuxedos. The initiative to legalise marriage for gay and lesbian couples is in its third year, and the amendment to the bill was proposed last year, but hasn't passed yet. Head of the Jsme Fér (It's Only Fair) initiative, Open Society Director and Prague Pride Chairman Czeslaw Walek will talk about the necessity and impacts of this step and explain the current situation.

Gay venues as the image of the local “gay village”? Why are they located mainly in Pekařská street? Ondřej Šerý, a social geographer of the Faculty of Sciences of the Masaryk University, opens a discussion about the rich and long history and development of queer establishments in post-revolution Brno.

What's life like for elderly LGBTQ+ people here? Do they receive the same social and health standards as others? The founder and coordinator of the senior citizen programme Platform for Equality, Respect and Diversity PROUD z.s., Jolana Novotná, will tell you more. She will also introduce her book about sexality and age, Neviditelná staroba, which features her own chapter.

Mezipatra's twentieth edition will end in the star company of queer music legends. As tradition dictates, we'll recapitulate prizes already awarded be juries in Prague and we'll announce the winner of the audience award. The festival will close with the iconic retro film Soldier's Girl, and we'll present it in its Czech cinema premiere.
And after the movie, we'll be looking forward to seeing you at ArtBar Druhý Pád. Where, at the closing party, you can take a selfie for example with Freddie!

As soon as the lights come back on in Art cinema, the final tones of the 20th Mezipatra will soothe the fragile feelings after such an intense cultural and social experience. The rhythmic beats of DJs Miltz, Fofela and burning and Tom Holič's live music won't let you down: they will take you high to the final ecstasy, a sweet memory to survive the whole year until Mezipatra 2020. If music can't keep you happy, you'll get some cake. Twenty years is twenty years after all.
