52 Tuesdays

International Feature Film Competition
Billie is a confident teenager who lives with her mother Jane and visits her free spirited father. He parents divorced when Jane came out as a lesbian, which everybody accepted. Yet Billie is about to get a shock. Jane has decided to start the transition and live as James, her true identity. Additionally she needs some me-time in such a situation, so Billie moves in with her father for a year. After her protests, they decide to meet every Tuesday. The feature debut of experienced documentary director Sophie Hyde enchants with authentic acting performances and a unique way of filming. The film was created gradually during one year, always one day a week, and it's also narrated this way: in fifty-two snippets of Tuesday evenings which put together the story of a year that meant a turning point for James, Billie, and other people in their lives. The film was applauded by critics at Sundance festival, and received Crystal Bear at Berlinale for the Best Film in the Generation 14plus section.
