The Freedom to Marry

A campaign that might have seemed impossible to succeed 32 years ago has over the years become one of the most important fights for LGBTQ+ rights worldwide. This thrilling documentary about the last days of the decision-making about legalizing same-sex marriage in the USA brings direct testimony of perseverance and determination, which are a great inspiration for the Czech Republic.

Adéla Horáková presents:
Freedom to Marry means a lot to me. The first film about marriage for all that I, and later even my family, have seen. This film helped me decide to take the plunge: leave commercial advocacy and work for the Jsme fér (It's Only Fair) initiative. Some countries approved of marriage for everybody even before the USA, but only after the USA legalized it did the idea gain greater momentum. Freedom to Marry is a first-hand account of how just a few people have changed the world.
